Congratulations to Emmi Holmes on breeding a golden beauty!!! Messages from Emmi: Well, finally the long awaited moment came. Little "Moonshine" arrived just before midnight last night - Monday night! - what a wonderful miracle of nature. Holly delivered a beautiful light palomino filly all by herself. I arrived at the barn for a late night check just barely in time to see the final delivery of the baby's torso and legs. Mare and foal are doing well. Holly is a natural, what a super mom.
Wow, Moonshine has reached her 2 month milestone! And what a busy month for her. She's still so very sweet and people-friendly - which is great for all her many visitors. She has grown about 4" and gained 65 lbs, easily doubling her birth weight by now!
Moonshine, now 5 months old, is nearly 14 hands (about 4’8”) and weighs 450 lbs. Very tall and slender and still so sweet and friendly with a lovely eye. It’s hard to enumerate all she has experienced these weeks, but for a start – she’s become a trailering pro going to vet visits and a few local outings to learn about strange places and other horses, to Morven Park with Holly, and for a full day outing to Barboursville, VA for the American Warmblood Society inspection (AWS). She and Holly went through major pampering and grooming and performing for that day. They looked gorgeous - thanks to so many friends who helped me pull it off. They are truly my “FAO girls” (my interpretation of the judge’s words “friendly, attentive and obedient”. They were both accepted into the AWS and Moonshine now wears her stamp of approval – the AWS brand! On top of that, another Max baby was there and she was introduced to him.
